Assassin's Creed Odyssey has been confirmed, will bring more RPG mechanics

Based on the small amount of material we've seen, Odyssey would seem to take place, paradoxically, centuries before Origins' 1st-century BCE timeframe. Origins felt like a breath of fresh air, with enough changes to the core gameplay loop to make Assassin's Creed feel compelling again. This was partly so Ubisoft could take its time with the next release and ensure it would be worthwhile, but also partly so they could wait and see how the Assassin's Creed movie would come together and decide if there needed to be any significant tie-ins.

Another year, another Assassin's Creed game leak. This will be a big step for Assassin's Creed since playable female protagonists were quite absent from the series.

A new report on Assassin's Creed Odyssey suggests the upcoming stab-happy sandbox title will include even more role-playing game elements. But if confirms both the title, and basically confirms the ancient Greek setting.

The next entry in the massively popular Assassin's Creed franchise has been revealed by Ubisoft: it's called Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

With this not-so-subtle hints it looks nearly certain that Assassin's Creed Odyssey will take players to Ancient Greece, where 300 also took place.

The game unfortunately won't feature Bayek or Aya as playable characters, and will instead introduce two new heroes. The game is expected to have dialogue choices, which would be a first for the series.

Finally, Schreier states that Odyssey is slated for release during Ubisoft's 2019 fiscal year, which ends on March 31st, 2019.

It looks like Assassin's Creed will be reverting back to its yearly release schedule.
