Lawyer: NFL Owner Changed Mind About Signing Kaepernick After Trump’s Comments

Kaepernick invented the anti-American protest during the playing of the national anthem in 2016.

Mark Geragos, attorney for Colin Kaepernick, claims that an unnamed National Football League owner has testified under oath that he has been persuaded by President Donald Trump's comments to not hire the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

Kaepernick's grievance, which is being heard by an independent arbitrator per NFL rules, contends that league owners cooperated to keep him out of the league because of his role in the anthem protests and argues that Trump was an "organizing force in the collusion", according to the Wall Street Journal.

Several key players are apparently preparing to fight the new requirements that orders them to stand on the field, retreat to the locker room or pay a fine for their defiance. But after that year, Kaepernick turned free agent and subsequently found that no team was interested in signing him.

In a followup question, the survey phrased approval differently, asking respondents if it is fair or unfair for teams to be fined when players kneel: 55% said it is fair, while 42% said unfair. Under the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement teams and the NFL are forbidden from coming together to deprive a player of employment.

"I thought he changed the dialogue", Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said in his deposition, the report said.

Any player on the field who did not stand during the anthem could face repercussions, the policy stated.

Kaepernick wasn't employed by an National Football League team last season and has charged that he was blackballed due to his anthem stance. Though he has stopped taking a knee, Reid vowed to continue protesting injustice.

But thus far, the debates about player protests have manifested as labor disputes. This is the first hint of what has been said in the depositions so far.

Attorney Mark Geragos told the "Straight Aim" podcast Tuesday that the unidentified owner's testimony proves collusion.

When Dash asks Geragos if he has such evidence, he replies: "Yeah".
