After a seven-hour standoff with the police, a man who held his wife captive over the weekend and killed three people in his neighbor's house, took his own life.

Police responded to a home in 22000 block of Brown Farm Way east of Sunshine for a domestic disturbance.

Police said the suspect, Christopher Wilson Snyder, 41, fled to his house across the street.

Snyder reportedly pursued his wife to the neighbor's home, where he allegedly shot and killed three people there before turning the gun on himself. Investigators said Tuesday the motive remains under investigation but noted that Snyder's wife told them she had been held against her will by her husband over the weekend and had managed to escape to her neighbor's home Monday afternoon.

Residents were told to shelter in place, and police set up a perimeter around the home. Police negotiators then made contact with him over the phone to urge him to surrender. One was Snyder's wife, police say.
