Kurt Warner Sounds Upset About Losing 'MNF' Gig to Jason Witten

Tight end Jason Witten has made a decision to retire and will join ESPN's "Monday Night Football" broadcasts, according to multiple reports. He was named a Pro Bowler 11-times and an All-Pro four times. Walking away without winning a Super Bowl was a consideration for Romo, who pointed out that it probably was for Witten, too.

What more needs to be said?

He is likely to be elected to the Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible and holds National Football League records for most catches in a season by a tight end (110) and most catches in a game by a tight end (18). Witten would be the third Cowboys player to be in the No. 1 broadcast team for a network.

Current Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said that Witten has set an example for all past, current and future Dallas players. He played 15 games his rookie season, missing one game with a broken jaw, and finished with 35 catches for 347 yards.

The Cowboys released Romo, the franchise passing leader, the same day of his CBS announcement in April 2017.

During Witten's time in Dallas, the team never made it past the divisional round of the playoffs.

"First class, Grade A player, awesome person, as a player, unbelievable", Gilbert Guerrero said.

Six Test matches in Australia's 2018-19 home season
A start time for that clash is yet to be confirmed, with Indian officials reportedly reluctant to agree to a day-night Test. The two-Test tour against Sri Lanka concludes at Manuka Oval in Canberra in a match to be staged from February 1 to 5.

This is a big absence in Witten's career, but he has accomplished everything else aside from that, which makes him a sure-fire Pro Football Hall of Famer.

"Many times over the years I'd wake up and jump out of bed and catch myself saying "how lucky am I" to be able to play the game of football for the Dallas Cowboys". And then there is Troy Aikman, who has been the top guy at Fox Sports for years.

Witten will call his first Cowboys game on November 5 when Dallas hosts the Tennessee Titans at AT&T Stadium.

With Witten picking up a MNF mic and the Cowboys jettisoning Dez Bryant, it really is a new era in Dallas.

Asked more recently about a report he had auditioned with ESPN, Witten went so far as to say he might play until he was 40 and declaring "absolutely" that he planned to return. Brees reportedly agreed to a two-year extension with New Orleans earlier this year.

Sources also indicated Witten could have interest in a front-office role for the Cowboys when his playing days officially conclude.
