Salman allegedly wrote to an FBI investigator that she was sorry.

GREEN: Right. So Noor Salman was charged with providing material support to a terrorist organization and obstruction of justice.

In a statement provided to the Orlando Sentinel, the juror - who requested to remain anonymous - said "a verdict of not guilty did NOT mean that we thought Noor Salman was unaware of what Omar Mateen was planning to do", rather that the jury was "not tasked with deciding if she was aware of a potential attack". They said Salman is not capable of being "calculating", "deceptive" or "able to connect the dots". He said he doesn't know how his niece will make up for the last two years away from her son.

"Why would Omar Mateen confide in Noor, a woman he clearly had no respect for?" She says she doesn't feel angry and hopes she never will.

"This was really her opportunity to clear her name and move on with her life", her spokeswoman Susan Clary told reporters, adding that Salman will now move to California, where she has relatives.

"It's a terrible, random, senseless killing by a monster", Mr Swift said during closing arguments.

Prosecutors had also accused Salman of falsely claiming that her husband didn't use the internet in their home, that he had deactivated his Facebook account years earlier, that he had one gun when he had three, and that he wasn't radicalized. The case against her mainly consisted of a so-called confession she made to the police after intense questioning for over 17 hours.

"On the contrary we were convinced she did know", the statement continued. "I said, day one, that she's innocent and I would stand here in front of you when the jury comes with the verdict to tell you, 'I told you so'".

Federal Bureau of Investigation special agent Ricardo Enriquez testified that Salman said in several statements to the Federal Bureau of Investigation that Mateen watched jihadi beheading videos, purchased a rifle and ammunition and went to a gun range to practice. She had faced a sentence of up to life in prison.

Carter said media outlets didn't vividly focus on what Mateen said in the phone call.

Charles Swift argued there was no way Salman knew that Mateen would attack the Pulse nightclub because he himself did not know he would attack it until moments before the shooting. They fought to have it thrown out.

Prosecutors sought to prove Salman helped Mateen prepare for the attack, joining him as he scouted possible targets and bought guns and ammunition.

GREENE: OK. So she was not necessarily guaranteed of getting the news that she wanted.

Her protection group suggested that much from being an excited partner, Salman was rather a "easy female" with a reduced INTELLIGENCE, at risk to affect and also abused by Mateen. He didn't respond. She later went on Facebook, read a book and then texted Mateen again. She's not guilty because I know how I raised my daughter ... "You knew, '" Enriquez testified.

Salman's defense, however, said there was no reason for Mateen to involve his wife in his plot - and no proof he had done so.
