Body found in shallow grave identified as missing Hollywood actress

Remains of a woman found in a shallow grave in northern California likely belong to missing actress Adea Shabani, the LAPD announced Tuesday evening.

The LAPD said they believed the remains were those of Shabani, and that a 33-year-old man with whom she had an intimate relationship, Christopher Spotz, was a person of interest in her disappearance and ultimate death.

A person who police believe was Shabani's boyfriend shot and killed himself last week after leading police on a auto chase in a stolen Toyota, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Adea Shabani, 25, was last seen February 23, 2018, on Wilcox Avenue between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue in Hollywood.

When Spotz committed suicide in a stolen pick-up truck on Thursday, police said they were still investigating Ms Shabni's disappearance as a missing persons case. Authorities believed the vehicle had been "possibly used in a homicide which had occurred in Los Angeles County".

The body, found in Dry Creek in the Spenceville Wildlife Area about 50 miles north of Sacramento, will not be officially identified until after a full autopsy has been done.

"At this point in time, we believe that those remains are the body of Miss".

Shabani is from Macedonia but left to study acting, ABC station KABC-TV in Los Angeles reported earlier this month.

Through an attorney, Spotz told detectives that he and Shabani left Los Angeles on February 23 on a road trip to Spotz's father's house in northern California.

When detectives tried to track him down there, Spotz was gone and issued a warrant for his truck. They also say he had "just returned to Southern California from Colorado" where he was with his fiancée. He said a cause of death was pending the results of Wednesday's autopsy.

"Our homicide detectives along with our coroner's division unearthed what appear to be the remains of an adult female", the Nevada County Sheriff's Office said.

Later that week, Spotz made a statement through an attorney saying he and Shabani were driving to Northern California together when they argued near Santa Clarita, Hayes said. The striking blue-eyed blonde's Facebook profile says she studied business administration at American University of Paris after leaving her home country. On March 22, San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies found Spotz in his auto in the area of the 10 and 15 Freeways.

An acquaintance of Shabani's fatally shot himself in the head last week.
