Agent WR Pryor to land with Jets

In 2015, he signed with the Cleveland Browns, and there he began his transition to wide receiver.

According to the New York Post, the Jets and Pryor agreed a contract on Thursday night but the details of the deal still remain unclear.

Drafted as a quarterback out of Ohio State by the Oakland Raiders, Pryor made the switch to wide receiver when he joined the Cleveland Browns, who looked to take full advantage of his 6-foot-6, 240-pound frame.

Pryor is coming off a season in Washington in which he was limited by ankle surgery.

Prior to that down year, though, Pryor had a breakout campaign in his first season as a full-time receiver with the Browns as he caught 77 passes for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. So, Pryor's days in D.C. are officially over. The New York outfit are said to have beaten the Seahawks and Brown to land the wide receiver's signature.

Free agent WR Terrelle Pryor is closing in on a deal with the #Jets, sources say. Thus, letting Pryor go was absolutely the right move, and they well could be better off without him.

The Jets have also shown interest in former Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Allen Hurns, but Hurns' visit to Florham Park, N.J. was put on hold due to weather. In addition to the two vertical threats, the Jets also have Jermaine Kearse and Quincy Enunwa.

It would appear Pryor's relatively strong receiving numbers in his final season with the Browns didn't accurately reflect his true value, and his one year with Washington did little to discredit that narrative.

The Colts deal came together quickly, on a Saturday, and the free agency signing of Kirk Cousins by the Vikings also played a factor - the Jets had been getting a very "nervous" about Cousins ditching them for Minnesota leading into free agency.

It was always unlikely that Terrelle Pryor wasn't going to return to the Washington Redskins after the 2017 season.
