The release will come this Spring for non-insiders, and Microsoft says "This new design conveys focused information to help our customers make focused choices about their privacy and offers two new settings for Inking & Typing and Find my device". This brand new blueprint of things could also let Microsoft to push S Mode to larger mass, provided it should be achievable across most versions of Windows 10. Last month's reports suggested that Windows 10 Home users will be allowed to disable S Mode free of charge, but Windows 10 Pro users may be required to pay a $49 fee to unlock the full version of the OS.

Microsoft first unveiled its new tabs for every app in Windows 10 previous year.

Introduced as a Chrome OS competitor, Windows 10 S was offered on low-cost machines by Microsoft and its OEM partners for as little as $189.

Microsoft has already made available the new privacy screen in today's build for Windows Insiders. Microsoft has tried locking down apps before with Windows RT, a mobile and tablet OS that eventually proved to be commercial failure.

The repackaging of Windows 10 S Mode into a simpler version of a full operating system calls into question whether or not lower-powered PCs will be able to run at full efficiency if they're still having to use a full-blown operating system with a stripped down UI.

The Windows 10 S was meant to be somewhat of a "lite" version of the full Windows 10 system, with the company claiming that the "S" stood for "Simplicity".

Microsoft's Joe Belfiore tweeted the news on Tuesday.

. "Next year 10S will be a "mode" of existing versions, not a distinct version". While uptake of Windows 10 S is unknown, it can be presumed the platform's not significantly impacted on Windows' overall market share.
