Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa said Sunday that he understands South Africans want the country's leadership to resolve its problems and that the ANC party's national executive committee "will be doing precisely that".

The National Executive Committee will assemble on Monday in the capital, Pretoria, as Zuma, 75, has defied growing pressure to resign since his deputy, Cyril Ramaphosa, replaced him as party leader in December. However, he pulled out of the events, citing "other pressing commitments".

"We all know and anticipate that they are dealing with the current issue that is facing our country", Faiez Jacobs, the party's provincial secretary, told eNCA television.

"We must keep our eyes on what is in the interests of all our people", he said, to the applause of thousands of ANC supporters.

"So we leave this church well armed with the good blessings and prayer.so as the leadership of the ANC we have been well empowered as we move ahead. and we manage this transition", said Ramaphosa.

For the past week, Ramaphosa has been bargaining with Zuma to resign from office as his continued stay as head of state would allegedly affect the party brand and could cost them votes in the 2019 general election.

On Saturday, the part saying "it's going to be ugly" had been edited out of her post. Don't fight someone who is not fighting you.
