A new HTC smartphone was showcased at Taiwan 5G Industry Alliance last week, and it is likely the Taiwanese company's next flagship smartphone, the HTC U12.

According to well-known leakster Evan Blass, the mysterious flagship phone seen in the video below is none other than the upcoming HTC U12 flagship that is codenamed as HTC Imagine. Although the U11 did better than its predecessors, i.e. the HTC One M9 and the HTC 10, it still lagged behind the smartphone giants in sales such as Samsung, Huawei, and Google Pixel.

In terms of specs, the device boasts of a 6-inch Quad HD+ display with 1440x2560 pixels resolution with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Rumors have it that the successor of the HTC U11 will be launching as HTC U12.

Another report in Taiwan-based Sogi website said this particular mobile can deliver download speeds of 809.58 Mbps, which is close to 1Gbps. It appears that there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 under the hood with X20 LTE modem that supports download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps. But ahead of any official confirmation, a combination of new reports indicate that the company might have showcased the phone during a 5G event held by a local carrier in Taiwan. So it's still a mystery whether it will be announced as HTC U12 or something else.
