Colts expected to hire Josh McDaniels as new head coach

A day after it was reported that New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia was likely heading to Detroit, it looks like we know where Josh McDaniels will be going next season. McDaniels found the job appealing too, with the presence of Andrew Luck and Jacoby Brissett at quarterback, and a respected general manager, Chris Ballard, in place. There was known interest between McDaniels and the Titans if they were to have a head coaching vacancy.

This will mark the second National Football League head coaching gig for McDaniels as he held an 11-17 record with the Denver Broncos in 2009-10.

While these two rumors seem to be close to done deals, at least as close to done as rumors can be, right now all Patricia, McDaniels and the Patriots are exclusively focusing on is a trip to the Super Bowl in three weeks.

The 34 year old Peetz just finished his first season as the Oakland Raiders quarterback coach, having previously served as the team's assistant quarterbacks coach (2016) and senior offensive assistant (2015).

The Titans parted ways with coach Mike Mularkey on Monday morning.

The Colts can't officially offer the job or hire McDaniels until the Patriots season comes to an end.
