"Looking at immigration, voters insist emphatically, 'Don't dash the dream.' Voters say that immigrants who were brought here as kids should be allowed to live out their adult lives here as citizens", said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

"In new Quinnipiac Poll, 66% of people feel the economy is 'Excellent or Good, '" Trump tweeted.

By contrast, 49 percent of voters believe former President Barack Obama was more responsible than Trump for America's current economic conditions; only 40 percent said Trump deserved more credit.

As for the Quinnipiac poll, 59 per cent of those surveyed disapprove of Trump's handling of the Oval Office, while 36 per cent approve. While 73 percent say their personal financial situation is "excellent or good" (compared to 26 percent who say it's "not good" or "poor"), only 24 percent say Trump's policies are helping their personal financial situation, 26 percent say his policies are hurting them, and 47 percent say they're making no difference.

Sixty-nine percent of respondents said Trump is not levelheaded, while 28 percent disagreed. 56% of respondents grade his first year in office as an F or D, the same percentage of his disapproval ratings.

The Quinnipiac poll also asked voters, in an open-ended question, to describe Trump's first year in office in one word.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,106 voters from January 5-9 with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points. Fifty-three percent say he is intelligent, while 44 percent say he is not.
