Apple Buys BuddyBuild To Make Life Easier For App Developers

"In 2017 alone, iOS developers earned $26.5 billion - more than a 30 per cent increase over 2016", said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing in a press statement. It will also discontinue all its services to Android app developers.

"We're excited to share that the buddybuild team has joined the Xcode engineering group at Apple to build wonderful developer tools for the entire iOS community", the post reads.

Apple noted that Pokémon GO was its top App Store app for the period, helped by its new AR features built on top of Apple's new augmented reality framework, ARKit. Based on Buddybuild's specialty, however, it will most likely have something to do with debugging as well as farming feedback from users.

Buddybuild was founded in 2015 by former Amazon employees Dennis Pilarinos and Christopher Stott.

Moreover, integration of machine learning with Core ML in building apps is also attracting developers to the platform. In simple words, Buddybuild offers tools for developers that are created to let them quickly and easily build apps through GitHub, BitBucket, or GitLab.

Supermoon gets 2018 off to big, bright start
It appears a bit brighter than a standard full moon, although weather conditions play a bigger role in its visibility. What is so "Super" about the moon tonight? New and full moons realign on or near the same dates once every 19 years.

As part of the acquisition, Buddybuild will be rolled into Xcode, Apple's suite of development tools for iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS, although Apple and Buddybuild have not given a specific timeline of when that will happen.

The Xcode engineering group absorbing Buddybuild will only make the iOS environment more developer-friendly and presumably make Apple steps ahead of Google. Back in 2014, Apple acquired Burstly, which made TestFlight, a popular beta testing platform.

Both companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.

The startup's system will fit nicely into the set of tools of Apple, which brings more methods to test, debug and deploy mobile apps via a proprietary channel. The startup has managed to raise around $8.8 million in three years of existence. The remaining roster of existing customers is an impressive one, including Mozilla, Hootsuite, Reddit, SoundCloud, FourSquare and The New York Times.

Following the accusation, Buddybuild will stop accepting new customers from 1 March while all the existing customers will continue to enjoy the services uninterrupted.
