Crystal Palace 2-3 Arsenal

Arsenal's silky German Maestro frequently pops up in the number 10 role, drifting behind the striker and pulling strings in between the lines of midfield and attack, meaning that Palace's Serbian stalwart Luka Milivojevic will be the unlucky man facing Ozil come Thursday night.

At a time when there are still doubts about Wenger's abilities despite his remarkable longevity - in overseeing his 810th Premier League fixture the Frenchman equalled the record of Sir Alex Ferguson - his team displayed so numerous traits he inspires.

But Arsenal did not shrink, and 12 minutes later, Alexis Sanchez smashed in a near-post finish after more good work from Lacazette.

Arsenal was off the mark first when Alexandre Lacazette's shot forced goalkeeper Julian Speroni into a save that reached only the unmarked Shkodran Mustafi, who tapped-in easily.

Sead Kolasinac and Sanchez then combined brilliantly to send Mesut Ozil one-on-one with the goalkeeper, who this time impressively saved the German's composed finish. Palace remains one point off the drop zone.

But they were pegged back shortly after half time when Wilfried Zaha teed up former Tottenham winger Andros Townsend to smash home an equaliser.

Arsenal required time to recover from the setback, and it was only after a lethargic clearance from Christian Benteke after the hour mark that the Gunners were gifted the chance they needed.

Despite leading, Arsenal's form this season meant only another goal would make victory look likely, and their fans had to wait only four more minutes. Jack Wilshere lifted a terrific pass over the top, Sanchez controlled on his thigh, delivered into his stride, and slipped past Speroni.

Alexis Sanchez was the difference as Arsenal survived a pair of second-half scares to edge past Palace.

Crystal Palace's James Tomkins scores his team's second gola in the 89th minute.
