'Payday 2' Gets Release Date For Nintendo Switch

The company has officially announced that their latest console, Nintendo Switch has now sold more than 10 million units worldwide with a rise of 2.5 million consoles sold since their last financial update in September. Nintendo has now revealed that the Switch has also moved past the 10 million mark after nine months on sale, with it recently passing the milestone after launching back in early March.

The Switch's sudden success can be attributed to a number of factors.

Looking at the Switch library of games now, compared to nine months ago, you'd be forgiven for believing I'm talking about an entirely different console. Three titles have been purchased by more than 50% of Switch owners: "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" - which won game of the year at the 2017 Game Awards - "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe", and "Super Mario Odyssey".

It has been clear since day one that the Nintendo Switch is a hit for Nintendo. The Switch is expected to outsell The Wii U (which only managed to sell 13.56 million units across four years) before its one year anniversary in March 2018. The unit is the first home console that can be played on a TV and also be taken instantly on the go, allowing players to experience their favourite games anytime, anywhere and with anyone.

Demand has been so high, in fact, that Nintendo had to revise its sales projections for first-year sales of the Switch.

According to an interview with Japanese publication Nikkei (via industry analyst Dr. Serkan Toto), Resident Evil, Street Fighter, and Mega Man publisher Capcom has desires to port even more games over to Nintendo's new hybrid console, the Switch.
