Google brings back touch controls for Home Mini speaker

Google's original Google Home smart speaker features touch input for volume controls and play/pause commands, but no multi-touch functionality.

It's good news for those who own a Google Home Mini speaker.

Google recently rolled out an update that will allow you to use Home speakers as intercom systems in your house.

The touch functionality, though not vital for the device, is a welcomed ability becaues it eliminates the need to speak. The company will now apparently bring the features back to the Home Mini.

Here is something that users of the Google Home Mini would be rejoicing - the Mountain View company has come up with a new update that restores to some extent numerous touch functionalities that a previous update had removed.

Now onwards, the Home Mini users can play or stop music, control alarm, phone calls and others by long pressing the volume buttons on either side of the device.

The latest update is rolling out now, but it's better not to get too much excited because it is not available for everyone. As mentioned before, the update is now in beta and rolling out to folks who enrolled in Google's preview program. Afterwards, it will roll out to all devices.
