Amazon Launches its Prime Membership Service in Singapore

Another service available to Singapore's Amazon Prime subscribers is video streaming, which will allow members to stream or download popular movies and TV series via the Amazon Prime Video app on Android and iOS mobile devices.

Amazon made its entry into Southeast Asia when it launched its Prime Now service in Singapore in July.

Now Amazon, which had been offering its two-hour delivery service Prime Now for free on a R54.28 (R400.86) minimum purchase in Singapore without any membership fee, will start charging R121.47 per month after a limited introductory period.

Mr Amos Tan, a Singapore Polytechnic senior lecturer in marketing and retail, said Amazon's removal of free shipping for non-members is a way of trying to lock in more customers.

Today, 6 November, Amazon announced the launch of Amazon Prime in Singapore.

But take note, Amazon will also have similar delivery times for some of its Handmade items as many are listed as taking a number of days to create and so aren't available for fast delivery.

Vermont retiree made ricin, tested it on neighbors, police say
The department has confirmed that one resident was being treated at a hospital but says no one is ill with ricin poisoning. State health officials have been in touch with Wake Robin staff and administrators every day since this began.

But administrative assistant J. Tan, 38, said he was disappointed that items he had been eyeing, such as the Nintendo Switch game console, are not available through the Prime Now app and no longer qualify for free shipping on the USA store.

Prime members here are eligible for free worldwide shipping on orders above $60 of more than five million items from Amazon's United States store, which are available on the Singapore Prime Now mobile app.

Gaming is also an upcoming entertainment industry, and Singapore Amazon Prime members can also enjoy access to gaming benefits on Twitch Prime at no additional cost.

Amazon Prime International's vice-president Jamil Ghani said more benefits will be added over time for Prime membership here. The company says it will expand LiveUp beyond Singapore into other Southeast Asian markets soon, including Indonesia, which Amazon is also eyeing as a key growth market.

The catch here is that the global range of over five million products is only available within the Prime Now app itself.

Everyone can try Prime for free just by signing up for its 30-day free trial on its website here.
