MINDHUNTER Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix, Starring Jonathan Groff

Probably not a huge surprise for fans of the show, but Netflix announced today they're renewing Joe Penhall's drama Mindhunter for a second season.

Even before the official renewal, Fincher expressed ideas about where season two would go in an interview with Billboard about the show's musical choices: "Next year we're looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we'll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice".

The show is based on John Douglas and Mark Olshaker's nonfiction book "Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit", and stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany as Federal Bureau of Investigation agents Holden Ford and Bill Trench, who were pioneers in behavioral profiling during the 1970s.

Co-starring opposite Groff and McCallany are Anna Torv, Hannah Gross and newcomer Cameron Britton, who portrays serial killer Ed Kemper. "MINDHNTER Season 2 is coming". Featuring the tagline, "We need to talk to more subjects", the post includes a brief video clip highlighting the show's Rorschach test-like imagery.

"Hopefully we'll have five seasons", McCallany remarked to Esquire. Mindhunter features Groff as an Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who tracks down serial killers and rapists. "The five-season bible I read was approximately a 60 to 70 page document that just laid out the broad strokes: a much more detailed rundown of season one, and then an overview of what potential subsequent seasons would look like".
