Snapchat's redesigned app is here and much easier to use

With the newly redesigned app user's friends will be separate from the celebrities, news, and Discover content. Upon opening the new Snapchat app, you'll be met with the familiar screen of your camera's viewfinder.

The new Snapchat UI should be rolling out soon, and if you get confused, just remember - friends on the left, everything else on the right.

The Snapchat app has always been a horrendous lag-fest on Android. But until then, stories, have been located in their tab to the right of the camera screen.

Spiegel has taken pains since going public to present his strategy as unique and not directly comparable to Facebook, which has seven times as many users and has copied some of Snapchat's most-popular features.

Naya Rivera charged with domestic battery, sheriff's office says
The couple filed for divorce past year but PEOPLE magazine reported that Rivera called off the separation earlier this month. According to both parties, Anderson and Rivera dealt with some drama of their own throughout their relationship.

"One of the complaints we've heard about social media is that photos and videos from your friends are mixed in with content from publishers and creators and influencers", Spiegel says in the video. "While blurring the lines between professional content creators and your friends has been an interesting internet experiment, it has also produced some odd side-effects (like fake news) and made us feel like we have to perform for our friends rather than just express ourselves".

The new feature begs the question, how does Snapchat know who is a friend and who is a brand? If the account doesn't follow you back, its Stories belong in Discovery. Ultimately, the people you talk to the most should be easier to contact. Snap used to automatically play the next Story in your list after your last, but Snap moved to a more cumbersome Story playlist in 2010 where you had to manually pick what you wanted to watch. That way you can swipe down to exit out before you watch it (which friends can see in their analytics), or swipe over to skip to the next preview.

Dividing content may make it hard for companies who are trying to squeeze their snaps between friend posts to get noticed. "This is a challenging problem to solve because the obvious benefits that have driven the growth of social media - more friends! more likes! more free content! - are also the things that will undermine it in the long run".

"The advancements made are certainly favorable to brands and should lead to more adoption and increased advertising revenue", Jason Beckerman, CEO and co-founder of Unified, said of the Snap news in a statement.

Snap Inc. announced the specifics of the redesigned app on Wednesday, the changes came following disappointing third quarter earnings posted earlier this month. Investors flocked to initial public offering, pushing valuation of almost $24 billion. Snapchat will use signals like how often you communicate with a user or view their Story to determine the ranking. The company's future depends on it becoming more accessible to a wider base of users, while retaining the core audience that uses it today.
