Five jawans were injured as terrorists opened fire upon a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Two CRPF men have received bullet injuries in the attack", the official said.

Unconfirmed reports suggest four jawans of CRPF were injured.

The terrorists who attacked the convoy managed to escape, but the entire area has been cordoned off and a search operation launched to track them down.

While speaking to a news agency, GNS, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant organization claimed responsibility of the attack.

The injured jawans have been taken to a district hospital in Anantnag and their condition is reportedly stable. "The cadres have reached the safe destination after carried out the attack", he added.
