Okafor added that Bryan Colangelo told him he does not want to pursue the buyout route, as they'd be giving him away for nothing, but it's clear that Okafor is over being the third-string center in Philly.

With Okafor requesting a buyout, President of Basketball Operations Bryan Colangelo has now declined to comment on the team's decision.

If he is not bought out or traded, Okafor, 21, will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

The Sixers have tried to trade him over the past two seasons but haven't been able to reach an agreement with another team that they feel brings them equal value. He now joins a list of players that includes Anthony Bennet (2013) and Hasheem Thabeet (2009) as other first-round picks that did not have their fourth-year options exercised.

Okafor has been the odd man out in Philly for a while now, and it only seemed like a matter of time before the Sixers moved him. However, they would only do it if Robert Covington was included in the trade.

"It puts me in a tough spot because I want to be on the court", Okafor said, according to The Athletic's Rich Hofmann. But here I am, November 1st I'm still here and looking to play somewhere. Okafor thought the Sixers would reward him for being a good trooper by trading him.

The Sixers traded Noel to the Dallas Mavericks in February.

"I'm playing Amir (Johnson) ahead of him and that's just the situation", Brown said October 27, per NBC Sports Philadelphia's Matt Bowker.

"I tried to do everything the right way".

"I'm unsure if I'm still on the team. I think about that often and I think that's something that could benefit me".

"But at some point, as people, on a personal level, you would hope, "Let's get Jah out of here". "This is my life, this is my career, and I'm not getting an opportunity here, which is fine", Okafor continued. "And I want to play".
