Three of seven workers injured in the explosion remain in critical condition, officials said - two with severe burns.

The platform, located in Jefferson Parish, is used for the transfer of oil, said Chief David Tibbets of the East Bank Consolidated Fire Department.

The platform is about 1 1/2 miles northwest of the Williams Boulevard boat launch in Kenner.

Jefferson Parish officials tell Eyewitness News that the workers were cleaning chemicals aboard the platform but the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Jefferson County Parish and St. Charles Parish also have marine units on scene assisting.
