The 290 passengers on board were served "omelette" and "sheera" in breakfast after the train left Karmali at 9:30am.

Tejas Express, which was launched on Goa-Mumbai route in June as India's first semi-high speed full AC train, has been in news mostly for controversies.

After consuming the food served by the IRCTC on the Tejas Express, they complained of uneasiness, Konkan Railway chairman and managing director Sanjay Gupta told PTI.

Konkan Railway officials confirmed the development and said, "All passengers were deboarded at Chiplun and rushed to government and private hospitals".

Promised in the budget, Tejas Express will also be pressed into service in Delhi-Chandigarh and Delhi-Lucknow sectors, according to the railways.

As reported by the hospital, none of the patients was in serious condition, IRCTC claimed in its statement. "The kitchen, where the food was prepared, was inspected by the Madgaon area officer after the incident and samples, including soup sachets, have been taken for testing", he said.

Proper arrangements would also be made for their onward journey after their discharge from the hospital, Saxena added.
