The Cavaliers and Hawks completed a deal in which Richard Jefferson and Kay Felder were shipped to Atlanta to get the roster down to 15 guaranteed contracts by the start of the regular season Tuesday.

The Cavaliers will receive the rights of two European players and receive a 2.6 and 1.4 million dollars trade exception. Jefferson had already announced a retirement after winning the 2016 NBA Finals, although he ultimately went back on that to play another season.

Beyond the roster implications, the trade has significant financial implications for the defending Eastern Conference champions.
