Windows 10 Mobile Will No Longer Get Hardware Updates or New Features

The app gap has left a very few users on the platform and app developers are now not willing to invest there time and money on the Windows Mobile platform. And now, in a recent array of tweets, Joe Belfiore, the man behind Windows Mobile has confirmed that they have failed to generate any interest from both consumers and developers to keep the platform alive. Remarkably, Belfiore even admitted ditching Windows 10 Mobile himself in favour of Android. Belfiore has detailed the reasons for this failure, including the lack of apps, which has always leaded the platform. Even so, the volume remained too low for most companies to invest in.

During a Twitter exchange with Microsoft enthusiasts, Windows boss Joe Belfiore said that beyond security updates for devices still in use, the technology giant wasn't focusing on new software or hardware for the product line. Belfiore's tweets indicated that Microsoft can no longer survive in fierce competition against Apple's iOS and Google's Android. Microsoft has finally realized that there isn't much market for the window's phone as not many people are using the Window's 10 Mobile or let me put it this way that the company has realized that it is short on such apps that may attract potential customers.

"Most Microsoft applications are now available and supported on other mobile operating systems".

Belfiore explained that "a huge, huge majority of our Windows/Office (and Xbox) users are mixed-ecosystem, and that most users have a different phone and PC platform". However, the user base of Windows phone is just too small to get their interest. "Choose what's best for you". In the era of Android and iOS, lack of apps and features caused the Windows Mobile platform to fail. Nearly for as long as it's existed, Microsoft's mobile platform has suffered from an "app gap" that's made it unappealing to consumers.

Facebook's hugely popular Messenger app was cut from a huge number of Windows phones in March this year.
