More than $2.9M donated to official Las Vegas victims' GoFundMe

At least 59 people are dead and over 500 injured after the attack on the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, which is now the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history.

Officials in Las Vegas said late Monday that United Blood Services and other centers that take blood donations were overwhelmed by the response from the community.

The suspect, identified as Stephen Paddock, 64, was found dead in his Mandalay Bay hotel room Monday in an apparent suicide.

It's the blood on the shelf that saves lives when tragedy strikes, but that blood has a shelf life, so donations will be needed for weeks to come.

Las Vegas police also provided a number for those concerned about their loved ones to call.

The verified crowd-funding campaign to which the team contributed had raised almost $2.8 million by 10 p.m. Monday to aid victims and their families.
