Xiaomi Launches MacBook Pro killer - the Mi Notebook Pro

As noted earlier, there is no guarantee that Xiaomi will launch the Mi Notebook in India, although if it does chances are that it may find a number of takers. Dubbed as Mi Notebook Pro, the Chinese OEM is touting that this model basically competes with 2017 Apple MacBook Pro.

As well as announcing some new smartphones, Xiaomi announced a new laptop at its press event today, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro. These aren't exactly mind-blowing prices, but not that it matters, as the machine will only be available in China when it goes on sale on September 15th. The laptop will be available in three variants.

Other than that, things look good.

The Mi Notebook Pro sports a 15.6-inch display and is powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and has up to 16GB RAM with a Nvidia GeForce MX150 chip. For things like Photoshop and video editing, this should prove seriously usable.

Xiaomi also took a jab at Apple, with its laptop featuring more ports than the Macbook Pro - an SD card slot, a data USB C port, a full function USB C port, a full sized HDMI port, 2 USB 3.0 ports and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. All it needs is an Ethernet port, and you'd never ever have to buy another dongle again. The tweet reads as, "In the hardware section, it offers way more than what we've mentioned!"

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro reportedly comes with an extended 15.6-inch screen alongside Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

We called the Notebook Pro laptop from Xiaomi "the gen-next laptop" for a reason.

Product dimensions are 360,7 × 234,6 × 15.9 mm, weight - 1,95 kg.

The highlights of the Mi Notebook Pro are that it contains the fingerprint sensor for a biometric authentication.

The device is backed by up to 16GB of DDR4RAM and up to 256GB of PCIe SSD storage. This particular quad-core CPU has a base frequency of 1.80GHz (i7-8550U) or 1.90Ghz (i7-8650U), depending on the exact model, while also being able to operate at up to 4.0GHz and boasting 8MB of Intel's proprietary SmartCache.
