Brock Osweiler Signs Back with the Denver Broncos

The quarterback is returning to Denver after the Broncos signed him to a one-year contract on Saturday.

In light of recent events and roster cuts, which included the Cleveland Browns cutting Osweiler ahead of the 53-man roster limit deadline, as well as the Denver Broncos waiving quarterback Kyle Sloter, rumors began surfacing that an Osweiler-Broncos reunion might be in the works. Osweiler's new deal in Denver means that the Broncos will pay him $775,000 of that $16 million and the Browns will pay the rest, which comes out to roughly $15,225,000. "I just think when it is all said and done, you have to make sure you keep the best players that you feel that can help you win". Osweiler parlayed a 5-2 record into an $18 million a year contract with the Houston Texans.

Brock Osweiler doesn't regret signing with Houston during the 2016 offseason, but he made it clear he's happy to be back "home".

"It's hard to really describe it in words, but being back here today, practicing as a Bronco and being here at Dove Valley", Osweiler said, "it's probably a top five, if not top three, day of my life". Osweiler played for McCoy in 2012, when McCoy was in the past year of his previous stint with the team. And then I know I've thanked [President of Football Operations/General Manager] John [Elway] up and down. "I know we thought a lot of Brock".

Following that season Osweiler rejected a multi-year deal to stay in the mile high city, instead accepting a four year $72m offer from the Houston Texans. Trevor Siemian is the starter and Paxton Lynch remains a threat, but there could be significant shifts in the depth chart over the next few weeks.

Osweiler went on to start the final six games of the regular season while Manning dealt with a foot injury. "So, we were able to get it fixed".

Scenery matters. It didn't work out for Osweiler in Houston previous year. The Browns did not have any long-term plans for him but gave him a chance to compete for a starting job this summer.
